FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Launchie.

Troubleshooting quick answers

How do I add my web apps to Launchie?

You need to grant access to the user Applications folder. Go to Settings -> App Directories and click “Show My Apps”. If you already did this, try to go to the Danger Zone and click “Reset Apps Folder Permission” and grant access again.

Can I use trackpad gestures to open Launchie?

Yes, in the Homebrew and direct download version from Launchie 1.6.1 on. Launchie Pro adds two gestures in Settings → General: swipe down with three fingers to open Launchie, and let the thumb-and-three-finger pinch open Launchie instead of the macOS Apps view.

The Mac App Store version cannot offer them. Reading trackpad gestures needs an unsandboxed helper, which App Store rules do not allow.

In every version you can also open Launchie from the menu bar icon, the Dock icon, a hot corner, or the global hotkey.

How do I move an app to a Space without keeping it in Root too?

Enable Exclusive Mode in SettingsSpaces.

By default, adding an app or folder to a Space keeps it visible in the root view as well. When Exclusive Mode is turned on, items assigned to a Space are hidden from Root and only appear in their assigned Space or Spaces.
