Overview

At Launchie, we believe in complete transparency about data collection and privacy. This privacy policy explains our approach to data collection, which can be summarized simply:The Launchie application does not collect analytics or usage data, and your apps, folders and settings never leave your Mac. It only goes online to check for updates, fetch Pro offers and, in the direct download version, verify a Pro license, as described under Network Activity.

Information We Don't Collect

The Launchie application does not collect, store, transmit, or share any of the following:

• Personal information such as your name, email, address or phone number
• Usage data or analytics
• Application launch history
• Folder organization or app arrangements
• Device identifiers such as hardware or serial numbers
• Keyboard shortcuts or hotkey preferences
• Search queries or app names
• Installation or usage statistics
• Crash reports or error logs

How Launchie Works

Launchie operates entirely on your local machine. The app:

• Reads your Applications folder to display available apps
• Stores your custom folder arrangements and app organization locally on your Mac
• Saves your hotkey preferences in local system preferences
• Only goes online for the few requests listed under Network Activity

Local Data Storage

Any preferences or settings you configure in Launchie are stored locally on your Mac using standard macOS user preferences. This data never leaves your device and includes:

• Your custom app folder organization
• Keyboard shortcut preferences
• Application window settings

This data is stored in your user library and can be removed by uninstalling the application or manually deleting the preference files.

Network Activity

Launchie makes a small number of network requests. None of them include your apps, folders, searches or settings, and none are used for analytics or advertising.

• Update check: Launchie asks launchie.app for the latest version number so it can tell you when an update is available.
• Pro offers: Launchie asks launchie.app whether a Pro offer is currently running, sending only which version you use (Mac App Store or direct download).
• Pro license (direct download version only): When you enter a license key, Launchie sends it to our payment provider Polar (polar.sh) together with your Mac's name, so you can recognize and release your Macs in the Polar customer portal. Launchie then checks the key with Polar at most once an hour while you use the app.
• Mac App Store purchases: Purchases and purchase restores in the Mac App Store version are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. We do not receive your Apple ID or payment details.

Like any web request, these requests reveal your IP address to the server that answers them. We do not use it to identify you or to build a profile.

Third-Party Services

The Launchie application does not integrate with third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The direct download version uses Polar only to verify Pro licenses. The Launchie website does use a limited number of third-party services for analytics, embedded videos, and newsletter delivery as described below.

Website Analytics

While the Launchie application itself collects no analytics, this website (launchie.app) uses Umami Analytics and Google Analytics to understand visitor traffic and download activity. We only load analytics after you accept optional cookies or tracking technologies through the cookie banner. Website analytics may include:

• Page views and visitor counts
• Download statistics
• General geographic location (country/region level)
• Browser and device type

This website data is kept separate from the application and is used solely to understand how people discover and download Launchie. If you decline optional cookies, analytics are not loaded.

Embedded Videos

Some pages on this website include video tutorials hosted by YouTube. These embeds are blocked by default and only loaded after you accept optional cookies. When a YouTube video is loaded, YouTube or Google may receive information such as your IP address, browser details, and which page on launchie.app you visited. Loading or interacting with the embed may also set third-party cookies or similar technologies on your device.

We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced embed domain where possible, but loading a YouTube player may still involve third-party data processing. You can avoid loading embedded videos by declining optional cookies, or open the video directly on YouTube instead.

Newsletter

If you sign up for the Launchie newsletter, we collect your email address and store it in our website database so we can send a confirmation email and, after confirmation, future product updates. We use a double opt-in process, which means your subscription is only activated after you confirm the email we send you.

• Email address
• Confirmation token and confirmation status
• Signup and confirmation timestamps

Newsletter emails are delivered through Resend. We use this information only to operate the newsletter and do not use it for advertising profiles or sell it to third parties.

Cookie and Consent Storage

When you interact with the cookie banner, we store your consent choice locally in your browser so we can remember whether optional analytics and YouTube embeds should be loaded. This preference storage is used only to respect your decision.

Children's Privacy

The Launchie application collects no personal information beyond what is described under Network Activity. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Data Security

Your apps, folders, preferences and settings remain on your Mac. All network requests Launchie makes use encrypted HTTPS connections.

Your Rights

For the Launchie application, we hold no personal data beyond Pro license activations, which you can release yourself in the Polar customer portal. For the website and newsletter, depending on applicable law, you may have rights regarding personal data we process. You can:

• Uninstall Launchie at any time to remove all local preferences
• Change your cookie preferences at any time using the cookie settings link in the footer
• Decline optional analytics and embedded video loading
• Request deletion of your newsletter subscription data
• Reset your preferences by deleting the local preference files
• Contact us with any questions about our privacy practices

Changes to This Privacy Policy

If we change our approach to data collection, we will update this privacy policy and notify users through the application or website. The current version will always be available at this URL.

We believe in transparency. If you want to verify what Launchie sends, you can watch its network traffic or contact us about its behavior.

Legal Basis

For the Launchie application, the update check and Pro offer requests rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the app current, and license verification in the direct download version is necessary to provide the Pro license you bought.
