What “position” means in Launchie
An app position is simply its place in the current layout.
- in the root view, the position controls where the app appears on your main page
- inside a Space, the position controls where the app appears in that specific Space
- position does not decide whether an app belongs to a Space
If you are trying to move an app fully out of the root view and only show it in a Space, that is a Spaces setting, not a position setting. For that behavior, enable Exclusive Mode in Settings → Spaces.
Ways to reorder apps and folders
- Drag and drop items directly in the grid.
- Right-click an app or folder and use the position actions from the context menu.
- Reorder items separately in Root and inside each Space.
Important behavior with Spaces
Positions are stored per view.
- Moving an app in Root changes its root layout.
- Moving an app while viewing a Space changes its layout inside that Space.
- Adding an app to a Space does not automatically remove it from Root unless Exclusive Mode is enabled.
